Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (ToU) govern access to and use of the ChessVerse service, published by Jérémy Maisse, sole trader (SIRET: 928 825 322 00011).
1. Service Access
ChessVerse is a free chess web application, accessible without registration or account. It offers local game modes against AI and peer-to-peer multiplayer. Access to the service is free of charge.
The publisher reserves the right to modify, suspend or discontinue the service at any time without notice or compensation.
2. Use of Service
The user agrees to use ChessVerse in good faith and in accordance with these Terms of Use.
The following are notably prohibited:
- Any attempt to circumvent, decompile or exploit the service abusively;
- Use of the service for unlawful purposes contrary to public order;
- Any action likely to disrupt the proper functioning of the service or peer-to-peer connections;
- Use of bots or automated programs to manipulate games.
3. Multiplayer Mode
Multiplayer mode relies on a direct browser-to-browser connection (WebRTC / peer-to-peer). The publisher is not party to exchanges between players and disclaims any responsibility for the behaviour of users towards each other.
No conversation, message or game data passes through the publisher's servers.
4. Intellectual Property
All elements of ChessVerse — source code, design, graphics, name — are the exclusive property of Jérémy Maisse, except duly identified third-party elements (Stockfish under GPLv3, Trystero under MIT). Any unauthorised reproduction, representation, modification or exploitation is prohibited and constitutes infringement under French intellectual property law.
5. Limitation of Liability
ChessVerse is provided "as is" without any guarantee of accuracy, continuity or freedom from bugs. The publisher cannot be held responsible for:
- Service interruptions or unavailability;
- Loss of games or game data;
- Peer-to-peer connection issues related to users' network infrastructure;
- Any indirect damage related to use of the service.
6. Changes to Terms
The publisher reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect upon publication on the site. Continued use of the service after modification constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
7. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, and in the absence of amicable resolution, the competent courts of Nice shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
